PostSubject: Sweater Weather [Loki]   Fri Jun 05, 2015 6:21 am

A summer storm raged against the windows backstage of the Tip Top Club, humidity and noise merging into one oppressive force under the neon lights. Lena pressed her flush cheek against the cooling condensation forming on the frosted glass. She felt as though she needed a moment, but the kind that lasted forever. She wrapped her thin dressing gown around herself a little tighter, grateful for the chance to hold herself, steady herself. Two weeks in and something had begun to unsettle her. It wasn't the eyes on her, or the bareness, or the lights, or maybe it was all those things with certain looks in the crowd. A hungry, calculated look, one that said they knew, one that traced a word on their lips like a smirk. "Jailbait." Those eyes sent a familiarity stewing in the bottom of her gut, and it only seemed to grow.

Lena sighed, maybe she should take a break, or maybe she should see her friends. Lian she hadn't seen since the Riot, and Loki since before, Jim she'd only met that once at Karaoke and she barely remembered that haze of alcohol and silly show tune renditions. Even Holli was hard to pin down, always coming and going, never really there much longer than it seemed to take to make sure Lena hadn't run off somewhere.

Lena turned to the side to let someone pass through the narrow hallway between the stage and the dressing room. Stupid place to put the only windows. She thought to herself.

It's not Loki didn't mind summer, he just always preferred to deal with the cold rather than warmer temperature. It was easier for his mood to drop, even if his energy was still pretty much uncontained. So the current storm raging on outside the Club was more than welcomed to the young trickster. He's always enjoyed the rain for whatever reason, maybe because it has a calm and soothing effect on him? Even if it was a pain getting cold because of it.
Stepping inside the Tip Top Club, Loki merely made his way over to the bar, no care in the world how his drenched clothes left a small trail after him, either ignoring the annoyed looks or returning them with a wink. "I've lost count on how many times I've told you this, but this place ain't a damn daycare," the grumpy coffee addict muttered to the teen, who like always didn't care what the others kept telling him. "Could've fooled me, you're great with kids," Loki smugly shot back, earning a warning look from the man. Deciding to spare Dean from his taunting today, Loki kept on walking, ignoring a quick search for alcohol this time much to the bartenders surprise and releif.

Making his way backstage, green eyes quickly found the one they were looking for, who was currently looking longngly out the window. SMiling pleased to himself, he silently made his way over towards the girl, but instead of a simple 'hello', Loki thought it a great idea to trail his ice cold fingers down her neck as a greeting. "Slacking off on the job, chubby?"

The feeling of cold fingers down her neck sent a shudder down her spine and a split second of horror, but no, she thought he couldn't find me here. Lena poked her tongue out as she whirled round to face Loki, grabbing his icy hand and pressing the back of it  it against her other cheek. "How did you manage to get so cold??" She asked, disregarding his slacking off comment, she would have to get him back for calling her chubby later. His hand felt nice against the unrelenting heat emanating from her skin. She was practically feverish from being in this humid, sweaty environment for too many hours that day, but she'd never admit it with only one dance left for the night.

Releasing Loki's hand as it started to get warm, she quirked an eyebrow at his damp hair, delicately lifting a moist clump that had clung to his forehead and moving it aside. "Did you walk here?" she asked, slightly amused and a little envious he got to enjoy the cool.

A low rumble sounded outside as the storm got worse, and the wind began to pick up, rattling the window a little.

Loki laughed foundly at the redhead, having been expecting a more angry reaction, but he didn't mind this either. He's gotten enough bitchslaps for one day already. He quirked an eyebrow at her question, holding back a proably rude comment, and allowed her to press his hands agaisnt her burning skin. Geez, if he hand't known any better, he'd think she was comming down with a fever. Could this place be any less uncomfortable for the poor workers? Either way, he was just glad to see his friend seemed to be doing fine here.
He merely smirked at her next question, enjying the warmth of her hand against his still cold skin. "It was quite refreshing," he shurgged casually, begining to shrugg of his hooide that had become a little to heavy for him. "Let's run naked outside once you're done here, if you don't die of heat stroke first I mean."

The rumbling grew louder as the thunder rolled overhead, growing closer every moment. Flashes of light in the sky following swiftly. Lena laughed. "I'd be down for that." She winked, putting her hands together behind her back and wishing it wasn't so warm. Beads of sweat were already reforming on her cheeks and neck after the brief relief she had felt. A flash of light above the window caught her eye. The static in the air caught her hair as she turned her head to peer up and out of the window at the flashes, however obscured they may be, it was undeniable.

Her face lit up with the tiniest of smiles, the faintest but indisputable hint of wonder playing across her features. "When I was little, " she said, turning to Loki with an air of excitement radiating from her "My mom used to tell me and the others a story about a little boy who went outside in a thunder storm and caught lightning in a jam jar." Her smile reached her eyes and she itched to be outside. "And when he caught it he never wanted for anything because he doled it out, a little at a time. to people that needed it and had something to trade, so he always had a way to provide for himself."

Lena giggled and rushed over to a small set up cabinets tucked in the corner beside the fire exit. She rooted around, striking lucky as she found an old sauce jar full of nails. She unscrewed the lid and emptied the jars contents onto the bottom of the cupboard. Too lost in her excitement to really consider anything else.

She stood up, waving the jar and lid at Loki. "Wanna go catch lightning?" She asked, not a hint of jest in her voice.

Loki's expression turned blank, giving the redhead a mild curious look as she began telling him the story. Having her giving hima small insight on her life before made him more curious, and a little happy as well to hear her share what seemed to be a found memory. Lenda didn't only have bad things to recall from her life before arriving here. But, it also made the trickster feel a sting of jealousy. While the rain may be comforting, lighting and thunder, sadly, didn't bring any postitive feelings for him.
The wonder and sheer excitment on Lena's face snapped him out of his own thoughts however, and simply returned a small smile at her giggle. Watching her turn and rush over to look around for something, he quricked an eyebrow when she retutnred with the now empty jar.
He side-glanced out the window again at her suggestion, the rumbling sound now having pretty muh reached them. "As long as you hold my hand," he agreed, grinning mivheciously down at her. "And you find something else to wear."

Lena quirked an eyebrow mischievously at him. "I thought you wanted me naked?" She teased. Putting a single finger up to signal she'd be a quick second, she ducked into the changing room, which was like walking into a heatwave in and off itself, with hairdryers and straighteners adding to the overall wall of humidity. Trying her best to shake it off, she quickly asked one of the girls who looked like they hadn't been there long if she would cover Lena's last dance of the night. With that taken care of she quickly derobed and slipped straight into a pair of high wasited shorts and a tank top, before returning the way she'd come.

Grabbing the jar and lid from the side she'd left them on, she walked over and slipped her fingers between Loki's. "This good enough?" She asked sweetly, holding his hand in her firmly and walking ahead towards the exit, towards an old fairy tale, towards another night in the rain with him.

"Perhaps next time," Loki snorted at her teasing, comming up with so many inappropriate things to retort with, but managed to hold his tounge. This place was risky enough as it is with the clothes they make her wear, stripp her down compeltley and everything would turn into one giant orgy. Loki wouldn't mind of course, as long as Lena wasn't part in it.
As she returned from the changing room and slipped her hand into his, he gave her hand a soft squeeze, allowing her to take the lead and walk them both out onto their 'lightning hunt'. "I suppose it's passable," he snickerd, giving one of the workers they passed a playfull wink.

Loki inhaled deeply the fresh air the moent they stepped outside, more than glad to be out from that confined little prison of humidity and sweat. Closing his eyes for a second, he leaned his head backwards and let the rain hit his face. He immedietly felt himself start to relax again, and after a couple of more seconds standing like that, he pulled his hood back over his head. "So then Chubby, you lead, I follow?" he suggested with a smug look.

Lena bumped his arm with hers, keeping their fingers linked, as she walked with him through the winding backstage passages. "Less of the chubby, you." She warned playfully, pushing the back exit door open and stepping out into the pouring rain. It felt like the water should have sizzled as it hit her arms and her face, the difference so harsh and stark yet wonderful. She lifted her face to the heavens, eyes closed and a sweet smile playing across her lips. "That's so much better!" She exclaimed, squeezing Loki's hand but never letting go. After a moment to enjoy the cooling sensation, she turned to grin at Loki, her hair already soaked and gripping to her skin.

A flash sounded above them, seemingly both close and far, followed by the loud rumbling. The light reflected and refracted on the raindrops, and seemed to shine all around them. She loved thunder storms, ever since she was small, something about the destructive power of something not made by man. Some serene beauty in the danger and the disarray they caused. Tugging Loki behind her, they set off around the corners, chasing the light as it flew through the sky searching for the tallest peak to strike.

A little surprised by the sudden tug on his arm, Loki almost tripped over his feet but quickly regained his balance, and once again allowed Lena to take the lead. Seeing her excitement, he absently wondered if he should be concerned over her little fascination with lighting. But then again who was he to judge? He practically lived for the thrill of danger whenever the situation turned up. Even though the gala ahd left him in shock when it almost cost his best friend's life...

Quickly shaking those thoughts of, he speed up his own space until he was running right along side the redhead, giving her hand another squeeze as they kept up their chase of the lightning striking up the sky. Side-glancing towards one of the many familiar alleys they just passed, he slowed down to some extent. "Hey," he tugged at her arm gently, giving her a boyish grin. "Would the hunt help if we moved higher up?"

[[OOC: okay, trying to write this has beem a disaster >.< Ive written it 3 times now DX first my phone didn't save it when i was on break at work, then a kitten walked across the keyboard and pressed F5. Then I accidentally clicked close. on with attempt no. 4]]

Lena slowed a second after Loki, almost losing her grip on his hand as she turned to him, halting. She reaffirmed her grip, they were palm to palm, and she wasn't letting go yet. Her smile reached her eyes and she beamed at him. "Great idea Batman!" She exclaimed, scanning the building sides for a fire escape they could use.

She exubed excitement, a fay like energy radiating from every inch of her, you could almost believe she really could catch lightning in a jar.

Spotting the one that went the highest, she lead Loki over into the alley. Jumping to reach it, she gripped a ladder and pulled it down to their level. A smug sense of self satisfaction playing across her features when she managed to do it, all without letting go of Loki.

[[OOC: aaaaaargh I can totally relate with you there hun x'D <3333]]

He snorted at the nickname, giving ehr a funny look as if to ask 'why Batman?', but was jerked away by the girl again before he could make any snarky comments. Apparently, their roles seemed to have switched this time around. But, oddly enough, Loki didn't find himself irked by the fact. Normally he would mind it if someone else were suddenly taking the lead, dragging him along without letting him have any say in it. But not this time, with Lena playing the role of the 'leader' the trickster found himself enjoying playing the role of the 'follower'. Her sheer exctiemnt was practically radiating around her, making it seem like catching lighting was possible. Loki smiled as he watched her, barely even realising himself how unusally quiet he was being.
"Ladies first," he grinned when she pulled down the ladder, giving a small bow, without letting go of her hand still.

Lena giggled and curtsied in response. And then she hesitated, looking from the ladder to their hands knitted together so tightly, she found she did not want to let go.  She thought for a moment, looking up at the ladder overhead. An idea occurred, and she tugged on Loki once more, though more gently than before, leading him over and positioning them facing each other with the ladder in between. "How about together?" She suggested, putting her foot on the first rung and her free hand on one above her head.

At the thoughtful look, Loki followed her gaze down to their still intertwined hands, and quickly figured out her wish of not having to let go. The trickster himself didn't feel like losing the hold quite either, if he were to be honest. It felt nice, having someone holding his hands so tightly in theirs. Safe.
Watching her closely, he smiled in approvment as she placed herslef on the other side of the ladder. He chuckled under his breathe, and placed his foot on the second rung. "You better keep up then," he winked, another loud rumble souning from above.

Lena looked up as the rumble rang out above them, like heavens call to arms. She grinned back at Loki, and climbed. Hooking the arm that was holding Loki's hand on the side of the ladder, using the inside of her elbow to keep her balanced as she pulled herself up a rung with the other hand. When they reached the top, she let Loki climb up onto the grating floor of the fire escape, their fingers still just about entwined as she swung around to the same side and climbed up after him. From there it was all stairs right to the roof, though when she put her foot on one, she slid a little from the rain that had pooled on the metal. "Oof!" she sounded, as she landed into Loki, trying to steady them both even after her own clumsiness. "Watch out, its wet." she deadpanned, one hand still clutching Loki's, the other resting on his chest.

"Whoa there," Loki exclaimed in surprise, wrapping one arm around her by mere reflex when she slipped. A soft chuckle was heard from the trickster as Lena tried to steady them both, and kept his arm tightly secured around her waist without really realising it himself. "Ya don't say," he snorted at her obvious little statment, staring into her eyes when neither of them seemed to be in a hurry to let the other go. Loki looked away first then, seeming to snapp out of his little daze when the sky lightend up again. Gently grabbing hold of the hand resting on his chest, he gave it a reassuring squeeze before lowering it. He walked over toward the edge, this time he ebign the oen to tugg Lena along after him. "Well," he began, looking atinetly at the redhead. "Now what, miss Lighting-Huntress?"

(ooc: you realise this is too cute for my brain to handle yeah? I just wanna give Loki the biggest cuddle xD)

Lena hadn't realised how brightly Loki's eyes seemed to shine, even in the dim, until their damp bodies pressed against each other in the rain. Electricity wasn't just flying through the sky overhead, it was in their locked gazes as well. The flashes were growing more frequent now, but Lena knew no fear of thunder or lightning.

At his words, Lena grinned at her friend, the new nickname definitely more appreciated than "chubby". Giving his hand a little squeeze, she pulled both of their fists into the air. "To the roof!" She cried, eyes wild and wide and gleaming with the reflection of the lightning above.

(ooc: pffft how do think I'm doing then??? Lena's to adorable for words<3333 x'DDD)

So, apparently Lena didn't mind the new nickname. As long as it wasn't 'chubby', it was all good. Too bad, because Loki wouldn't stop with that nickname either. "To the roof," he sang along with her, grinning boyishly at both the girl and the whole situation itself. If they both ended up with a cold or something after this little adventure, Loki would still think it'd be all worth it. Seeing this brighter and more... happy side of Lena, eased his mind off alot of things. Even if her genuine and sweet smiles would only last for this moment, it was worth it.
"I'll go first then, do try to keep your feet on the ladder this time," he teased as he began climbing again, stopping a moment to look down at their still intertwined hands. "...I might not catch you in time."

((ooc: so sorry for the wait, it's been hectic as hell I hope you will forgive me))

Lena smiled sweetly at him, even as her teased her he seemed to do so with a kind of gentleness that was greater than she had seen in him yet. Though of course she could not read him at all, Loki was like a book written in an unknown tongue, with only a glance at the illustrations to guide her through him.

Together they climbed and climbed, story after story and the rain poured down and the thunder rolled and the lightning flashed from the heavens above them. By the time they reached the top, Lena's clothes had soaked through and a chill seemed to reach her bones, but it was welcome compared to the heat and grog of work. Squeezing Loki's hand once more, she looked to the sky and reached to her pocket for the jar... To find it wasn't there. A mingled sensation of panic and disappointment crossed her chest as she looked back over the edge to see if she had dropped it on the fire escape. But below them was too dim and her face fell when she could see nothing.

"No riches for us tonight, I'm afraid. " She said, offering her friend a sad, disappointed smile.

But the storm raging around them knew nothing of her sadness, and if it did it did not weep for her, only raged on for the heavens. Lightning flew through the sky, darting, weaving, searching for the highest point, only to strike a small broadcasting tower situated on the roof. Sparks flew alarmingly beside them and Lena gave a small scream in shock, as the city around them fell into darkness.

((ooc: no worries hun, none at all <3 Very Happy ))

Once they reached the top, Loki took his time looking down the edge, the street lights doing a poor job in this weather and making it feel like he was staring down a dark abyss. He moved his gaze upwards, and took in the city before them, finding himself enjoying this view even in this dark, unforgiving weather. Climbing up the rooftops was something he usally did, half of the time alongside Jim. And they'd either get shit-faced or just sit down in silence... They hadn't done that for quite a while now.

Looking back at Lena when he realized she had gone quiet, he gave her a soft look as understadnign dawned on him, offering her warm smile when her own turned sad and dissapointed. Givng her hand another squeeze, to reassure it was ok, he took a step closer to her and placed his other hand on her shoulder. He opened his mouth to say something, but whatever he had in mind got drowned by the lighting crashing down, leaving the city in darkness. When Lena screame dout in shock, Loki had stayed quiet, but not unaffected. Without realizing it himself, he had tightly wrapped both his arms around the redhead, holding her close to him while buring his face in her red hair, as if trying to hide from the darkness himself. For a quick moment, he hand't been on the roof anymore, but back at 'home', locked outside while desperatly banging on the door until his small hands began to bleed, crying for someone to 'please, please let me in!' while the thunder and lighting raged on behind him. He thought he'd forgotten that fear...

Lena stood perfectly still a moment, her arms at her sides, as the sweet raven haired boy buried his face in her auburn locks, he seemed more fearful than she had ever seen him. Slowly, gently, she raised her arms , wrapping one around his shoulder and running the other hand through Loki's sopping wet hair.  Her eyes scanned the darkness, the sparks had already stopped though the storm around them raged on, her eyes scanned their surroundings as she adjusted to the new level of dimness.

Spotting what appeared to be an old tool shed, she lead Loki towards it, going as slow and as gentle as possible, keeping him as close as he needed. Though she remained calm on the surface her heart beat against her chest wildly and she could not tame it.  Kicking a rusted assortment of tools out of the way  with her foot, she guided Loki into sitting down, worry creasing her face as she sat beside him.  "It's okay." She said quietly, her eyes not leaving his face as she reached into her shorts pocket and pulled out a delicately folded hankercheif, the same one Loki had given her once, in the rain.  She dabbed at his face to dry him a little, wondering what fear had struck him so.

Taking deep breathe, Loki barely even realised at first when Lena began leading him, but didn't make any sort of protests and let her. His eyes were downcast the whole time, even as he was sat down, and only seemingly snapping out of his little daze when he felt the handercheif agaisnt his skin. Blinking, he turned his gaze up until his green eyes locked on her face, his face now just an empty mask void of emotion. That ol fear that suddenly struck him wa snow gone, thankully, but instead had been replaced by a numb and unwelcoming feeling.
"Sorry," he murmured, reaching his hand up to gently grasp hold of hers that was currently against his face. "I'm fine now... Just... got reminded of something unpleasant," he spoke softly, the small smile he managed to form lacking that usual glint of confidence and micheviousnes. "...are you ok?"

Her features softened even as Loki's turned into an empty mask. "there's nothing to be sorry for." She assured him gently, her grey blue eyes searching his green ones. She looked for some inkling as to what shook his soul to silence. The feeling of his hand on hers again was comforting, but the absense of his boyish grin was just the opposite. She brushed her thumb across his cheekbone, wishing she knew some way to comfort him.

"I'm fine. Just a little unexpected. " Lena said dismissively. " Wanna talk? "

The trickster stayed silent, and instead averted his green eyes away from her blue ones. Did he want to talk about it? No, he really didn't. He never wanted to talk about things that didn't matter anymore, beacuse what was the reason to it? It wouldn't make him feel any better, or sadder. And even if some of those memories still liked to hunt him down in his dreams sometimes, it was nothing more than. Just memories.
He sighed, closing his eyes and leaned into her touch, comfortbed by her mere precense. "I used to be scared to death by thunder," he chuckled, as if the whole thing was humureos, even after what just happend. "As well of the dark. And my old man found it.... annoying, to say the least..."

"Annoying..." She repeated softly to herself, the word resonated with her. There was no humour I such a sad, broken laugh falling from Loki's lips, only a sense of kindred sadness. Lena closed her eyes and pressed their damp forwards together, wanting to feel closer. "Family," She said with a sigh "are a part of life we don't get to choose. Not unless we can escape them."
