PostSubject: Aren't These Azaleas Pretty? [Tag: Milo]   Thu Jul 10, 2014 11:21 pm

It had been a few days since the incident at the gala. And Connor had been a complete wreck. If he wasn't jumping at every little noise, expecting someone with a gun to just start shooting, he was constantly worrying over the fate of Milo. Did he make it to the hospital in time? Did he need surgery? Was it successful? At first he had no idea, and it was killing him all the while.

He hadn't gone to the hospital to follow after and find out. He wasn't related to the injured man, and thus the hospital would never have told him. So, he had no choice but to return to the brothel. How he even made it back in his dazed and exhausted state was beyond him.

But regardless, he wasn't exactly in the right shape to work properly. Since it had only been a few days, his employer was sympathetic to his ordeal. It wasn't everyday one was stuck in a mass shoot out. At least, not for the workers of Gomorrah. So he had been granted some time off, so long as he helped with a few odd jobs around the place and filing some paperwork.

But even that seemed a bit taxing with the distraction that was his ever growing worry. more than once he thought if he should just go down and see the other, make sure he was ok. But was he allowed to? Would he be even wanted there? He was just a prostitute that Milo just happened to take an interest in and deem to be the one to take his virginity. That didn't mean it was ok for Connor to pop in like he was a close friend.

Or more...

But he also would never rest easy unless he knew. And nothing was coming up in the gossip mill. So the young man went out, making his way to the hospital. Along the way he had stopped by a flower shop and purchased a couple azaleas. Only a few because that kind of flower was often pricey, but they were lovely to look at. And their meaning was something befitting the situation.

When he had been a child, one of the prostitutes in the brothel had adored flowers and their meanings, and had taught him each and every single one. Azaleas were 'take care of yourself for me'. They also meant fragile passion -which Connor could admit deep deep deep down sort of fit as well but only to himself- but that was not the focus he wanted from its meaning. He just wanted Milo to be safe, and to take care of himself.

And with them in hand, the raven-haired man found himself inside the hospital. He never quite liked being in there, check-ups and examinations were annoying and sometimes humiliating. And the last time he ever came to check on someone had been his mother on her deathbed. So he didn't like hospitals.

But he had to make sure Milo was ok. Which was what led him to the receptionist desk to find out what room he was in, and if they were allowing visitors. And they were, and they told him, and so he nervously headed in the direction given. When he made it to the other's room, he found himself pausing.

Should he go in? Did he dare? What if Milo was sleeping? It wouldn't do to wake up a healing person, they needed rest. What if he had company? It would be weird and awkward to try and explain who he was and why he came to see Milo. What if the other didn't even want to see him? Maybe i should go... he thought, taking a step back.

But he had gone all this way to see him. Had even bought some flowers. And he needed to know the other was ok. Or going to be. Or whatever. biting his bottom lip, he stepped back into his original place. Only to take several steps back again. And then come back to the door.

For several minutes he paced like this, uncertainty on his face. I gotta know. he finally decided, lifting up his free hand to hesitantly knock on the door before opening it. carefully he stepped inside, blue eyes seeking out the form of the other as he tried to will himself not to turn back around right then and there.

All he wanted was just to get some reading done while he was in this damn hospital. Also to keep his boredom to a minimum. But that wasn't going to happen. After all a damn officer had was currently visiting with him. Not any officer. An officer who was quite familiar with the Roarke family, knowing Milo since he was small. Somehow the subject of their conversation had just went of track, the other male completely tossing his bosses orders and concerns to the side. Just to berate the smaller male about the Gala incident.

"Preston." Milo answered darkly, shifting his gaze on anything other than the officer. "You can't be serious, Thatch! What in gods name urged you to confront the man and threaten him with a gun!" the officer berated the younger male, grimacing at the thought of him facing Preston like that. Especially since the kid had risked death because of it. Milo sighed softly in irritation as he rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance, before shooting the man a cold look. "I did that to try and buy Helga some time. Even though it was freaking hopeless!" He gritted his teeth, knowing that there had been no news of the kidnapping. Both Helga and Zak with some other cop had been taken away. That's all that Milo knew.

The officer cursed under his breath, looking down at him with disapproval and sympathy. The police department was still trying their best to find her and the others. But still there were no signs of them in the city. It had to pain the male in the hospital bed about the kidnapping, due to him knowing of Milo's connection to the Sinclairs. But it didn't matter. Roarke had already lost his daughter. Losing his first born son was going to hit him ever harder. It terrified him of what would happen to Roarke. Unknown to both Milo and Officer, the door to his room had opened, but they paid it no attention.

The officer quickly recollected his emotions, before speaking. "Thatch...You're the son of the commissioner. You can't be getting into shit like this. You almost lost your life!" he remarked, shaking his head down at Thatch. Milo just rolled his eyes at the officer, retorting back in a snide manner, "When are you going to finally understand that I don't work on this side of the law anymore? Getting into shit like that comes with being in a mob group." So what if he was the commissioner son. That meant nothing really. He chose the mafia life over the law life for a few respectable reasons.

This caused the officer to seethe in anger. "Wasn't your sister's dea-!" He was cut off by Milo capturing with a steely gaze, his hand up in a stop motion. He snapped his mouth shut quickly. 'Don't bring her into this. She had nothing to deal with this stupid, trivial war between the law and mafia." Milo gritted through his teeth, his tone seethe with annoyance and sorrow. Then motioned his head to the door. "Just leave. And just report whatever to my father. I don't care." Milo demanded, his other hand's fingers becoming seemingly close to the nurse call button. The officer clenched his jaw in anger, but nevertheless gave into the younger man's demand.

As the officer made his way to the door, he came to a stop at the sight of Connor. His eyes drifted to the flowers then back up to analyze the male with a strange look. "Another visitor for the stubborn brat." the officer commented out loudly for Milo to hear and left the room, closing the door behind him. Milo quickly snapped his attention to Connor, widening his eyes at the sight of the male. This was really surprising. He knew that he had heard panic and worry in the other male's tone when Connor had rushed him out of the Gala to the ambulances. But Milo wasn't sure if the male prostitute would visit him. So did the male really did care for his well being? This seemed enough proof. A warm tingling feeling blossomed in his heart at seeing that the other male really did seem to care. Milo wasn't sure what it was. But it felt good so he didn't question it much.

"C-Connor? Long time no see. I-It's really good to see you after that incident," Milo remarked, admitting that he did miss the other males company. But it wasn't all in all sexual at all. He had really came to like the other male even though Milo didn't want it to be true. It really became stronger after seeing the socially awkward Connor that he had taught how to dance.. He wasn't even sure how the other male would react if Milo admitted that. Terry's confession came to his mind which continued cause Milo's feelings become a bit complicated. Then he realized something. How long had Connor been standing there? What did he hear? Questions like that now filled his mind, but Milo couldn't be worried about that right now. Since he blushed a bit a seeing the sight of the azaleas in Connor's hand.

As it turned out, there was someone else visiting Milo. And having an argument it seemed by the way the man yelled. Neither this person, who appeared to be a police officer, nor Milo noticed Connor entered the room. Which only increased the awkward and nervous feeling that was festering within him. He didn’t exactly want to interrupt, but at the same time it felt weird to just be standing there while two people argued.

"Thatch...You're the son of the commissioner.”

Blue eyes widened as he heard those words, disbelief filling up inside him. Milo was the son of the police commissioner? How did that even work? A mobster as the son of the commissioner. That was even more bizarre then the mobster being friends with the bounty hunter. And it was also something the smaller man didn’t seem to like to talk about, given how he snapped at the other in a way Connor had never seen the other do.

"Wasn't your sister's dea-!"

Milo had a sister? Was she anything like him? What was the police officer trying to say before Milo had caught him off with a steel cold stare? It sounded like he was going to say death or dead. And if so, what happened to her? How long ago was it? What did it have to do with Milo getting hurt or being in the mafia?

Lost in these thoughts, Connor almost didn’t see the officer turn around to leave, obviously angry with the injured mobster. When his presence finally caught the leaving man’s attention, the prostitute felt himself freeze under his scrutiny, feeling anew wave of nervousness fill him up as he looked down and tried to make himself smaller. Cops were… intimidating.  When they weren’t customers themselves, a good number of them just liked to bother and harass the workers of the sex industry when they saw them walking by.

He jumped a little when the cop finally spoke, loudly, to inform Milo of his new visitor before leaving out the door, surprisingly not slamming it shut when he closed it. Blue eyes then nervously looked to meet wide brown, before a hand lifted up shyly to give a tiny wave. Uh hi.” he said quietly, awaiting the other’s reaction.

The moment he heard that Milo was glad to see him, Connor felt himself relax a little more before rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s uh it’s good… to see you too. Um how are you?” That was a dumb question. He was in a hospital after getting shot, how did Connor think he was doing? Flushing lightly, he moved forward towards the empty chair near the bed, moving quickly so he could just sit down and not stand there like an idiot. However he didn’t pay full attention and his side hit the chair. Causing to begin to stumble, but the prostitute reached and steadied it before it could fall.

His cheeks grew warmer then as he mumbled out a sorry and sat down. Wait, was it ok for him to sit? What if Milo hadn’t wanted him so close? What if he was tired from the talk with the cop and didn’t want anymore visitors? He needed to recover after all! In an attempt to stop his thinking that sending him down a path pf panic, the hand that held the flowers shot out, lifting them up practically in Milo’s face. “These are for you!” he spoke out quickly as he did it, a little too loudly which caused him to wince as he mentally beat himself over it. “…Sorry…” he said, his voice much quieter.

Milo gave the other male a light smile, feeling a bit relaxed at seeing the awkward male that he had seen for the first time at the Gala. There was that familiar flush that he remembered that the male had done multiple times too at the event. He kind of missed them. And here the male was with that cute flush of his.

“I’m doing good, kind of hoping I can soon leave this hospital,” Milo responded with a sheepish smile. He didn’t like hospitals much. Even if he had a book to keep him entertained for the most part, he was still a bit squirmy with staying in bed most of the day.  He watched the male with worried eyes as the male made a move to the empty chair near the bed, hitting it with his side accidently. The male was so awkward right now that he felt a twinge of sympathy for Connor. Milo sighed softly in relief as the other male caught the chair and steadied it before it could fall.

He waved his hand giving him the expression that he was okay, giving the male a light smile. Suddenly he blinked in surprise to see that his vision was full of azaleas.  Then he heard Connor mutter a quiet apology. Milo wasn’t mad with the male. He was pleased that the man was visiting him and brought flowers as well. A soft smile formed among his lips. “These are lovely, Connor. You don’t have to apologize,” Milo assured the male quickly, as his hand took a hold of the bouquet from Connor’s grasp, as he gazed down at them with a soft gaze.  “Also thank you for visiting me.” He glanced up to gaze over at the male, beaming. His day was now getting better due to the other male being here now.

Now was his chance to thank the male for his help in saving Milo. He was so thankful to both Terry and Connor for their courageous acts. He couldn’t get over the fact that they risked their lives for his stupid act of trying to be a hero and save the Sinclairs. “I haven’t gotten the chance to thank you, Connor for getting me out of the Gala. If it wasn’t for you and Terry’s acts, I’d probably be dead by now. So thank you.” Milo thanked the male, giving him a genuine expression. Then he remember how scared that Connor had sounded before Milo had been handed over to the paramedics. That gala event had to have been tragic for him. “B-By the way...how have you been?” Milo asked in a worried tone, chewing his lip nervously. He hoped that the male hadn’t been worrying himself over the event. And that the male wasn’t traumatized by the event.

Connor felt a bit of relief upon the sight of the small smile Milo had given him, as well as the news that the other man was ok. Good enough to want to leave the hospital even. "That's uh that's good to hear..." he responded as he balanced the chair and sat down in it. He still couldn't believe he ran into it. I need to calm down. No need to be a nervous wreck. he thought as he rubbed the back of his neck.

It was just... Milo made him nervous. Even more so than any other social interaction he had. He just wasn't sure what to do around him. And the fact he was aware of being so nervous only increased his nervousness as well as develop a sense of panic. Because the kind of nervous he felt was too much like a certain emotion. An emotion he refused to name or even address out of fear that it would indeed be it.

When Milo smiled softly and claimed the flowers were lovely, Connor felt himself blush lightly and glanced to the side. He couldn't keep eye contact at that very moment. "... I'm glad you like them." he mumbled, his cheeks heating a little more. It was nice to know that they were a good choice. As well as the fact that Milo seemed happy he was visiting. "N-no problem. I um... wanted to see how you were doing."

Finally, blue eyes were able to look back towards the other man as Milo thanked him for getting him out of the Gala in time. At the mention of how Milo would have probably be dead had it not been for him and Terry, Connor felt his chest tighten as his hands clench tightly to his pants. The image of Milo lying on the ground bleeding out played in the back of his mind and he took a sharp inhale of breath. "Let's.. let's uh not think about that." he mumbled out. He didn't want to imagine Milo dead. That had caused him enough troubled nights already.

At the question about how he had been doing, Connor found himself rubbing his arm. "Um... ok?" he answered, though it came out more as a question. "I guess.. sorta jumpy. But um.. mostly just worried. About.. um.. you." Understatement of the year really.

Milo watched as Connor sat down in the chair after balancing it out. The male's nervousness was very obvious. It made Milo wonder if he was the same when he had first met the male. The tables have really changed. Although Milo really didn't mind this at all. Seeing Connor so shy and nervous, was definitely a sight that Milo wouldn't miss. Sure the sexy Connor that Milo was used, really got Milos attention. But so did this new side of Connor. Milo smiled lightly as he caught notice of the man's blush. Especially that. It really pleased him to see the other male blush. It was just too darn adorable to dismiss. Was the other male nervous to be here. Or was Milos compliment about the flowers triggered such a blush. Maybe both.

"You really chose well," Milo complimented the male as he reach over with his good arm and place the bouquet in the vase with the other flowers. Milo thought for a moment about this action. The other flowers belonged to Terry. For some odd reason it didn't feel right to do that. Stupid complicated feelings were a pain in the ass very much. Milo just left them in the vase, reminding himself to get one of the nurses to get him another vase. Or it would drive him crazy. "I should be soon getting out of the hospital soon. Being stuck in this room reading is enjoyable but does get tiresome after some time." Milo smiled sheepishly, being a bit grateful to the hospital library. He kept to himself about the other reason. Milo wasn't fond of being visited by those he didn't want to see or speak to.

Milo soon noticed that Connor seemed uncomfortable about the Gala incident. He nodded his, giving the male a small smile. "Oh sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Milo quickly interjected, not wanting to cause the male any discomfort. He slight grimaced at hearing that the male has been a bit jumpy since the incident. Then widened his eyes at hearing that the man has been worrying about him. "Y-You have?  I'm sorry for making you worried..." Milo apologized, feeling a bit bad about it. Milo was used to the mafia world. Connor wasn't. Milo didn't know that Preston would actually shoot him fatally. Well shot him in the first place really.
