The Emerald's doors are open wide at evening, and the host welcomes the party goers warmly. After a short speech praising the police for their unyielding dedication to justice and protecting the city, the host calls for the first dance of the night. Couples take their place as the orchestra begins the first notes, and the magic begins...

Akima hadn't even checked in at the station, so with exception of Helga and John, she didn't know anyone in the city. She hadn't even been aware that this event was happening till a few hours ago. The few stores she had had time to check had been sold out, so she was left in dress pants and a top that had never failed to gather the compliments.

As the music began for the first dance, she settled back against the wall. Her eyes lingered on the couples twirling on the floor. Dancing with someone you loved was magical. Even watching it, the way the light hit skirts as they whirled, the light touch of his hand at their lower back, the murmured promises whispered between kisses, was magical.

'Well, baby? She could hear her long dead fiance's voice in her head, the phantom weight of his hands on her waist. Do you believe in fairytales now?

Tears sprung into her eyes at the thought. Shit. Wiping at her eyes carefully, Akima forced herself to look somewhere else before she really started crying. Just because her fairytale had been stolen from her, didn't mean she could cry over others like a baby.

Meg had worn a beautiful dark red ball gown with a heart neckline, the dress had a plunging back with a corset lace. Her hair was up and in curls, while she wore a garnet necklace and matching earrings. To finish the ensemble, she wore simple red heels. Nothing too elegant as she wanted to keep her balance and keep her feet from killing her. "Thank you so much for inviting me to this Cole." She said as she stared around the ballroom in complete awe. The whole place was beautifully decked out, and she had a feeling it had probably cost a lot to put together. "You really are such a great friend." She said and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek, unable to contain her excitement. The only thing that would have made it better was if her arm wasn't in a sling. Other then that, she had a feeling tonight would be lovely....even if she wouldn't be able to dance too much.

{OOC: Milo's outfit!!!! <3}
It felt so abnormal for him to be here at some party. At a Gala for that matter. Especially a Gala that had been made to praised the police force for their hard work in Attica city. The Tip Top Club was no victory for any side really. His father was probably thinking the same thing as they had both lost a family member due to that raid. He could tell already that the socialite was probably either hopelessly trying to get it good with the police or just didn't know that much about what was even going on in the dark world of Attica city.

As the music brought him out of his thoughts, Milo tugged slightly at the collar of his suit. It was a comfortable suit that Milo favored, but his nervousness was just causing him alot of discomfort. He gazed along the dancing couple for a moment before glancing to the side at Terry. A bit grateful that he had decided to go to the Gala with a friend rather than alone or with Korso and whoever he brought with him. Being alone or being with Korso and the gang really didn't suit him much well. He'd rather spend his time here with a friend, rather than that. "Wonderful speech, huh?" Milo commented in a sarcastic playful tone, giving Terry a slight smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Annie clapped along with the audience, a sweet smile set upon her lips showing that she enjoyed the speech and agreed it. While her cold eyes seemed to tell a different story. She couldn't care less about this stupid trivial war between the mobs and police force. Annie had trust in that Korso would do okay with that new commissioner in charge. But she had been proven wrong when one of her favorite workplaces had been raided, putting Korso, John, Jessica, and Milo in danger. Even she had been worried about that trickster brat's care being when she had learned that he had been in the raid. He might be a brat to her while she was a she-devil to him, but that didn't mean that she didn't care at all about him. To learn that John and Korso had been wounded during the raid too, had made her blood run cold.
It had been such a foolish attempt by the police. Especially after it had costed the commissioner's daughter's life and the owners of the Tip Top club who Annie had been terribly fond of. It hadn't helped that the woman had been Milo's sister as well. She felt a bit uneasy and sick at knowing that the girl hung around the club quite alot with the owners. Annie had confronted her once but Aurora seemed desperate not to have her brother worry about her. It was really a shame that his sister wanted to reconnect with her older brother, but had been putting the day off. She sighed softly, pushing the thoughts far back into her mind. Tonight was a party night, not some night to sulk over the past. Annie brushed back a strand of hair behind her ear before she headed over to one of the tables to cool off and order herself something to drink. Annie wasn't against the idea of dancing, but she'd wait to spot someone suitable or being spotted.
(OOC: Chel's outfit! C: )
Chel had made her way into the ballroom, eyes scanning the room. Her hair was in a low bun; her figure complimented by a halter black dress with a keyhole. Her nails were a bright red like her lips, and she found herself in a corner of the giant ballroom, drinking a glass of wine from one of the tables. She watched as others began dancing and raised an eyebrow, almost unimpressed. Why did I think coming was a good idea? she asked herself, brown eyes inspecting others. This entire gala is a facade. It's just a way to run from the real problems this city faces, that damn police raid was no success. She remembered watching the news coverage of the event in the cafe.
Taking another sip of wine, Chel wondered if anybody would join her. She hated these events, but had made a promise to Akhesa to acquire new information on a few people. Just another night of work. All dolled up for nothing. she thought to herself as she gulped down the rest of the wine.
(ooc: Connor's outfit, minus glasses)
Connor was miserable. Or rather, he was extremely uncomfortable. Dolled up in a nice -and rather spendy- suit, he stood among the crowd listening with half an ear of the speech given. He couldn't find it in him to pay fully attention, as he felt too nervous of his surroundings. The place was full of upper class or high influential people. True Police Officers, whom the gala was for, and middle class were seen mingle about as well, but they at least all belonged in nice functions like these.
Connor didn't.
He was someone who didn't go to fancy parties or dress up in a monkey suit or dance away with complete strangers. He was a prostitute. Someone who, by society's standards, was much lower than the rest of the people here. He knew it. And he was pretty sure anyone who looked at him knew it too. Why did I let Loki talk me into this? he thought as he shifted in his spot.
The teenager had out of nowhere declared to him that he was going to the Gala. The raven-haired man tried everything to get out of it, stating he had to work; that surely someone like him wasn't allowed, and that he didn't own a suit. But Loki, clever clever Loki, found a way to bypass it all. Somehow, he got Connor the night off -clever cheeky bastard- and then quite clearly told him it was an event open tot he public. Thus meaning everyone was allowed. And then he dragged Connor shopping. For a suit.
Bought him, a suit.
Which gave Connor no choice but to go. Damn him. he thought with a sigh, but his thoughts had no real bite. He couldn't bring it in him to actually be mad at the younger male. Especially when he was busy trying not to be noticed by anybody. A feat which seemed impossible as his gaze caught sight of past clients with their husbands. Most, the moment they noticed him too, avoided hi gaze as if in fear of meeting his eye would let their husbands know of their adultery. But some were being very brave.
Three times during the speech, Connor had to avoid eye contact with one of those brave women who decided to smile flirtatiously at him and bat their eyes. Pleas pleas please leave me alone. he thought when the speech was over, clapping with everyone else out of nothing more than monkey see monkey do. And boy did he feel like a monkey.
Music started playing and people began to head for the dance floor, causing Connor to head straight for a wall to stay there and be hidden. If he was lucky everyone would just leave him alone.
[OOC: Try NOT to see Tom Hiddlestoneduring this thread please xD Loki's suit]
"The only thing I dislike about your suit," a smug voice spoke up suddenly, "...is that it covers your nice abs~"
Out of nowhere, the teen behind the whole dragging the unwilling and uncomfortable young man to this Gala, has appeared and now stood leaning against the wall by the young man's side, still looking so very proud and happy with himself like he had when they were out auit-shopping.
His green eyes was currently appreciating Connor's current look, while holding out a drink for him. Milo is so owning me for this~ he keeps thinking satisfied to himself, scanning over the crowd quickly in wait for hi fellow bookworm to show up. He had his camera ready to get his reaction on tape, and then while the two would be busy with each other he'll send the other nice pictures he has of Connor (most of them half nude pics) to Milo to wake up to in the morning. Man, he sure was a nice freind sometimes wasn't he?
He caught some women giving Connor flirtatious looks, and was debating on whether to call them brave or stupid. Some of them where here with their partners and they still had the nerve to flirt? They really just couldn't give the poor guy a break could they, Connor was clearly uncomfortable and feeling so out of place already.
With a sigh, he turned fully to face Connor and placed his arms around his neck, and due to his short height had to stand on his toes to reach him. "Just pretend you're already taken for the night," he whisperd to the guy, making it look like they were kissing from the women's angle of view. Like the teen had expected, they turned their eyes elsewhere and dropped their flirting for the moment at least.
He gave Connor's cheek a pat before letting go, leaning back against the wall like nothing had just happend, and happily whisteld a tune to himself while going through the nice pictures in his phone.
When he looked up again to search the crowd once more, his eyes landed on just the person he was hoping to see for a quick moment before the crowd covered Loki's view of him. Putting away his phone, he quickly grabbed hold of Connor and quite literally tried to drag him across the dance floor, grinning excitedly the whole way.
He cursed to himself when almost getting pushed over more than once by the people they passed, and without a warning went behind his company and jumped up on his back. "Onward, King of Abs!" he exclaimed happily, pointing towards where Milo stood along side some other guy.
Barbara grinned up at Jason, her escort for the evening. It wasn't everyday that she got to see him all dressed up. "I should take a picture of you all dressed up to send to Jasmine." She said batting her eyelashes at him. She herself was dressed in a dark blue dress with a Regency esque over coat. Her long red hair was in a curly side pony tail while she wore diamond cuffs and matching necklace. All in all she felt beautiful, "Though I do have to admit, this is lovely for a police affair." She said as she twirled a little bit in place.
Terry looked around appreciatively, though most of his attention was on his "date", who looked very nice in his suit, though a little uneasy. Terry nudged him as the speech ended. "Relax, it's not like anyone is trying to start a fight, right?" He wondered if he'd be able to trick a dance out of Milo, but figured he probably shouldn't push his luck.
-
Lir tugged at the sleeves of his suit as he looked around. It was a grand thing the gala was shaping up to be, he could already tell, though there were several people he recognized, though when he smiled at their curious stares, they looked away in shame or embarrassment. Lir touched Akhesa and smiled at her. "Do you care for a dance my lady?" He asked, quietly teasing.
Jason never minded big crowds or loud noises, he enjoyed having a party as much as any wild youngster next door. But that was just the thing, he liked wild and crazy, not gala's like this where they had to dress up all nice and properly, mingle and dance in the most boring way possible. He was more than certain he was going to die of boredom this evening. The only good thing with this whole thing was the food and drinks they offered, that's honestly the only reason he had bothered to show up. And oh, of course his company here had something to do with it too.
He rolled his eyes at Barbara when she unsurprisingly brought up Jasmine for whatever reason (she's freaking obsessed with the two for them, that's for sure, should he get a doctor to check on her?) and merely gave a bored hum in return.
Compared to her, he wasn't that especially dressed up, he had just finished out the first thing that could pass as a suit in his wardrobe and put it on without much care. He wouldn't deny that Barbara looked beautiful though, he'd betetr keep an eye on the guys eyeing her, just to be on the safe side.
"Whatever," he mutterd, already bored. "Let's see what food these stuck-ups got to offer."
Milo smiled sheepishly at his date, before glancing away. He really had to admit that his friend really did look handsome in his attire. Milo had to glance away due to not wanting to look weird by staring at Terry, it would've been awkward if he was noticed. Sighing softly, Milo glanced around the ballroom at the couples danced around, sighing softly. "Guess you're right. This is supposed to be a good evening for the public." Milo murmured, knowing that even the known mobsters were let into the establishment. He wondered for a moment if he'd see anyone else familiar here as well, since it was very possible.
He side glanced again at Terry before giving him a teasing smile. It wouldn't hurt to compliment the male, would it? "I've got to say that you really look good in that suit, Terry." Milo complimented the male, tilting his head ever so slight at the male.
Barbara laughed and rolled her eyes playfully at his tone, "Always thinking about your stomach." She teased with a little wink at him. "Tell you what, you go and get yourself some food and I'll mingle." She said, starting off towards a dark haired man who looked positively yummy in that tux.
Helga felt a little under-dressed. She'd opted for a simple black, slitted gown and pearl earrings for the evening. Tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, she looked around at the crowd noticing that many were most certainly higher than her in status and wealth. These were not her people. But at least there was at least one person who was and she'd stayed close to Eric since entering the ballroom. She hoped she didn't come across as clingy. She just felt a little out of her element was all.
"Feel like dancing, Eric?" she asked, looking next to her. She had to admit, he looked very nice in a suit.
The smug voice of the person who's fault it was he was even hear came up beside him, Connor not even blinking as he looked at the teenager upon his comment involving his abs. It was nothing new really, the prostitute more than used to the other making some kind of comment involving them. He did blink upon the sight of a cup being held out to him.
With only a slight hesitance, he reached out and grabbed it, ignoring the looks his so-called companion gave him as he took a small sip from the cup. "Why did I let you drag me here?" he asked quietly, frowning a little before a sigh escaped his lips. He really didn't want to be at this function. It was out of his element.
Slight surprise filled his eyes when the younger male was suddenly in front of him, placing his arms around his neck. But that surprise quickly left as he merely lifted an eyebrow in question. It wasn't the first time the other did something random or invade his personal space after all. Not that he had much of personal space to begin with thanks to his job. At the other's remark of playing pretend, blue eyes flickered to where some of his clients had been only to see them look away.
"You know that won't work for long." he stated simply, but giving a small smile of thanks none the less. Sadly it would only be a matter of time before they either figured it out or decided to be brave enough to approach him anyways. And he was not looking forward to that. People never seem to get that prostitutes had lives outside of their work. Then again I don't have much of a life outside work. he thought sadly as he swirled his cup a little.
Just as he was about to take another sip, Loki was tugging at his arm and dragging him onto the dance floor. "W-what are you doing!?" he demanded, feeling his face heat up in embarrassment as he was dragged off to who knows where. The teenager better not expect him to dance-
Connor nearly sputtered out as Loki suddenly halted and moved around him, only to jump onto his back like he was some steed. "Loki I swear to God-" It was an empty threat, he knew it well, but his face felt like fire as he tried to look at the other and glare. As the other pointed off somewhere and demanded he move, and noticing the stares they were getting from dancers, he grumbled before moving along. "King Abs? Really?" he asked, snorting and rolling his eyes.
He had no idea where they were going until he spotted a familiar face. Though not the face Loki had spotted, rather the bounty hunter Connor had come to know as Terry. Seeing the other raven-haired male caused him to freeze, eyes widening. Nope! he thought, turning sharply around and making plans to walk back to where they were. Nope nope nope nope. However, it seemed one of his clients noticed Loki on his back and seemed to be connecting the dots in her mind. And it was the one that unnerved Connor to know end, as everything about her screamed man-eater.
She began to walk towards their way, and seeing this Connor turned right back around and headed back to the original destination. And it was then that he noticed the glasses-wearing man beside the bounty hunter. Milo? The mobster and the bounty hunter, it was a strange site to see. And one Connor wasn't sure was good or not, then again both men were smiling. Regardless though, Connor wasn't sure he wanted either man to spot him, the awkwardness of it all no doubt high. Plus Loki was still on his back. "Can you get down now?"
Eric watched as couples one-by-one began dancing. He had never been to an event like this. Everyone looked so sophisticated and elegant, it was kind of odd. Helga looked stunning too, and in such a modernly simple dress too, he thought to himself. It had caught him off guard a little bit when he picked her up at her house.
Looking back to Helga when she spoke, he nodded before taking a step back and offering his hand to her. He thought his dancing skills were okay, but probably decent enough to be accepted in this gala. "Of course." He smiled charmingly, taking her hand and walking her onto the dance floor. As they got into position, he let out a little sigh of relief to expel the nerves and gave her a warm smile. "Um, thank you for coming with me tonight, Helga. You look beautiful."
Ooooh wonder who that guy is, Loki thought curiously as he took in Terry, trying to remember if he'd seen the guy somewhere. He doubted it, or else he would've at least recalled the guy's face, which didn't look so bad. Though he was sure it'll look way better when they got closer.
He couldn't contain the pleased and mischievous smirk as he saw Milo and this guy smiling at each other, apparently his bookworm pal was more popular than he thought. Still, Connor shouldn't be to bothered by this right? They could maybe even get in a threesome and help Milo get that stick out of his-
"Woah HEY!" Loki exclaimed when the unthinkable just happened: Connor turned and started to walk away.
"Wrong way, I said- TURN AROUND," the teen had to quickly wrap his arms around Connor's shoulder to not fall of.
"Um helloooo? Eye-candy, we were headed to Thatch," he hissed in the guy's ear, trying and failing to turn him back around from his seat on his back. Naturally, due to his lack of physical strength and weight, Connor probably barely even felt the teen's efforts.
He looked up when he saw one of those flirt looking women from before heading straight for them, and gave her a cold glare that cleary told her to fuck off.
He ignored Connor telling him to get off, and kept glaring at the woman who had slowed down a little but still determined to get to Connor. He looked over to where Milo and his company where again, his voice wouldn't be heard if he yelled over this noisy crowd and music from this distance.
He grinned wickedly when Connor had turned away on his own, and gave the woman the finger before looking back to their targets, but then of course Connor had stopped again before he even reached them.
He sighed, and rested his chin on top of Connor's head lazily. "Do I always have to do everything?" he said softly, giving the guy another friendly pat on his head. Then he straightened up, inhaled as he put two fingers in his mouth, and let out a piercing whistle, loud enough to catch the couple's attention.
"Yo, I brought you a present~" he he said simply, waving happily at both Milo and and Terry.
Cole felt good in his simple black suit and seeing how happy Meg was it gave him an even better feeling about the gala. Especially since the raid he wanted to do something special for her and he was glad that she actually agreed on going with him to the gala. As friends of course even though he wouldn´t say no to turn this into a date.
"The pleasure is all mine since you agreed on my offer so no need to thank me Meg." As she gave him a kiss on his cheek a deep blush appeared in his face. Luckily for him it didn´t last as long as expected. He took her free arm on his, ready to start walking. "So what do you want to do first?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh dear what did I get myself into. Akhesa really tried her best to not trying to hide and blushing all the time but it seems that her best wasn´t completely good enough. On the one hand she feared what Ramses thought of her going to the gala with Lir on the other hand she was nervous since she had no experience in going to an event with someone that is not her brother. At least it is not a date she tought and even if it would be she had no idea of what to do.
When Lir asked her if she´d like to dance she took a deep breath and made sure her light blue dress did fit perfectly. Since she was the one asking him because it would be a lot more fun with a friend coming along too she decided to do her best to have lots of fun with Lir and gave him a sassy smile. "Sure but don´t complain if I have to take the lead from time to time."
He didn't take any offence when she teased him about his 'bottomless' stomach, and just gave her a lazy wave as she skipped off towards some poor bastard. He was well aware that she could handle herself (he had made sure of that herself after all) but he'd still keep an eye on her from time to time. Attica City, no matter what circumstances, was never a safe place to anyone.
He boredly looked over the crowd and their fancy dresses and suits, and had to hold back grimace as he made his way towards the food, fully intent on at least enjoying that. They better have some nice drinks too or he might just have punch someone. At least tif he did that, something would happen.
Helga chuckled when he sighed, relieved that perhaps she wasn't the only nervous one. She herself wasn't the best dancer, but she knew enough to not embarrass either of them. The orchestra was playing a slow song, so they wouldn't be doing anything complicated yet. "Thanks for asking. It's nice to do something fun outside of work for once." she admitted. She felt her cheeks grow warm at the compliment, but wrote it off as nerves and the atmosphere. "You don't look too bad yourself." She replied.
Terry nodded at Milo's statement."Something to get the public relax a little, and perhaps an attempt at a temporary truce?" After all, while they were looking at each other distrustfully, the mobsters and cops weren't causing each other trouble. Terry looked down so Milo wouldn't see his blush and stupid smile. "Thanks, Milo. You look good too. His head went up at the sound of the sharp whistle and his eyes widened. "Connor?" With some kid on his back.
-
Lir chuckled at Akhesa's statement. "I'm here for you, honey. Whatever you want to do" He spun her onto the floor, admiring her dress and how it moved on her. "You do look good, by the way" He complimented.
Why do I keep putting myself through things I can't stand? the ex-doctor thought irritated to himself, currently finding himself ignoring some dressed up woman trying to talk to him. Well, she seemed to be obvious that he wasn't even listening to whatever the hell she was still on about after 20 minutes. Obviously, she was one of those spoiled and self-absorbed types, another kind of person that was low on his blacklist. Hmm, that list surely must be infinite at this point, was there anything he liked, aside from coffe? Well, he didn't mind art, that was realxing stuff to cehck out from time to time too... Or cooking, he didn't disliek that either but that was just a necessity-
"Hello, are you even litsening?"
Dean blkined down at the girl who finally had realised he wasn't paying attention to her, his face still stuck on his bored and unreable look.
"No," he said flatly, slurping loudly on his drink. Oh hey, this was actually pretty good.
Just as he expected, the girl started to whine and call him names, and ended up bitchslapping him when he'd been honest and said her face reminded him of a starved pig.
As pretty much expected of him, he went back on enjoying his drink when she stormed off, ignoring his cheek were surely a handprint now was.
Riddick entered the gala in his sharpest suit(which was also his only suit), but it fit him rather nicely. He was surprised at him in deciding to dress up at all. But he figured why no try something new for a change? Not to mention he had to blend in.
He examined the large room carefully, seeing people at their respective tables socializing or preparing to dance if not dancing already. It was for a police raid he hadn't been in town for. At the same club Sara danced at. Nonetheless, he was glad he hadn't been in town; for the cops and anyone else's sake.
Riddick walked to the bar, standing in between two barstools and ordering a double scotch. A woman a stool down was giving him questionable looks. She was dressed rather provocatively and he couldn't help but reply when she began to flirt with him.
Akhesa smiled at Lir´s compliment and enjoyed to be leaded since it was a slow song and he did do very well in dancing. "Thanks but you look stunning yourself." While dancing she tried to look around to see if she knew anyone who attended the gala. Photographical memory can really be helpful. No one important for her to see, not even Ramses. Seems everything really is fine. As the song continued she was able to relax more and more. "Funny, we aren´t even here for long but for me it´s already one of my best nights."
